Invitation to Collaborate on Advanced Technology and AI Projects in Jiangsu, China & Other Provinces

NOQii Jiangsu, a wholly owned foreign subsidiary of a premier Canadian technology firm based in Vancouver, invites distinguished professionals to contribute to pioneering projects in various advanced technology and AI sectors. These projects are located in Huai’an, Jiangsu Province, and potentially other dynamic growth hubs across China.

Project Locations and Regional Highlights: Huai’an, centrally located in Jiangsu Province, boasts a metropolitan population of approximately 2.5 million as of 2020, with the larger prefecture-level city totaling over 4.5 million residents. Jiangsu itself is a powerhouse in China’s economic landscape, having achieved a GDP of 13.7 trillion yuan in 2024—a testament to its role as a primary driver of national economic growth.

As a province celebrated for its rich industrial base and burgeoning high-tech sector, Jiangsu is positioning itself as a two-way open hub with global appeal, actively enhancing its participation in international initiatives such as the Belt and Road Initiative. This commitment to high-quality development and modernization makes Jiangsu an optimal setting for cutting-edge research and project implementation in fields such as biomanufacturing, commercial aerospace, and robotics.

Expanded Project Locations: In addition to Jiangsu, our team plans to lead major projects in other provinces and cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen—China’s major technology and AI hubs. These regions offer extensive innovation resources, supporting our mission to lead transformation across multiple industries. We are thus putting out a call to experts as we expand our leadership in technological innovation.

Flexible Participation Options: We are offering flexible involvement options for our projects, allowing experts to engage either full-time in China or through remote work arrangements with possibilities for short-term visits. This flexibility ensures that collaboration is feasible regardless of your current location or commitments.

Expertise Areas Needed: Our upcoming projects span diverse fields including, but not limited to, Material Science and Nanotechnology, Biotechnology and Genetic Engineering, Robotics and Automation, Advanced Energy Solutions, Cybersecurity and Encryption, Internet of Things (IoT) and Smart Devices, Advanced Manufacturing, Clean Technology, Advanced Medical Technologies, Photonics and Optoelectronics, and Environmental Engineering.

Compensation and Benefits: Experts collaborating on these projects will have the opportunity to be compensated above industry standards, reflecting the value we place on your skills and knowledge, particularly across our key projects.

Qualifications: We are looking for experts who either hold a Master’s or PhD degree, or those with a Bachelor’s degree who have significant experience in any of the technical areas mentioned.

ARST/LIBR 596 – TLEF Project Archive: Indigenous Initiatives

Organization
CTLT: Indigenous Initiatives

Address
Irving K Barber Learning Centre, 214 – 1961 East Mall, Vancouver, BC V6T 1Z1

Purpose of the project:

The Teaching and Learning Enhancement Fund (TLEF) has been a source of funding for the teaching and learning community since 1996. Since then, many projects have been funded with a focus on Indigenous priorities.

In order to evaluate work in this area, a student will work on compiling and organizing TLEF project archive data between 1996-2025. This work will assist the Centre for Teaching, Learning and Technology (CTLT), and in particular, the Indigenous Initiatives unit better understand the types of projects and initiatives funded under the TLEF. This project has the potential to assist the adjudication process for upcoming TLEF funding cycles, demonstrate new priority areas that align with the Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP), and give a deeper understanding of project impacts beyond the funding cycle. Moreover, the data will also help the Indigenous Initiatives team identify key levels of support and engagement in funded TLEF projects over time.

Summary of activities required to carry out the project:

Main activities will include collecting and compiling project data, organizing the data according to themes and project focus area, identifying main contact(s) for project and identifying project leads for informal conversations about the project. The student may also help identify potential new areas of focus, specifically as they relate to teaching and learning priorities in the Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP). Additional work may include:

  • Develop an organization system for TLEF projects with an Indigenous focus area as well as a tracking system of how information has been organized and analyzed
  • Conduct information interviews with project leads on TLEF project as well as members of the Indigenous Initiatives team to understand information needs related to TLEF project data

The main duties of this project may be completed online, with occasional on-campus meetings.

Expectations of the end result of the project, for both host and student:

Private Contract Sought to Organize Personal Papers for Professor Emeritus

Dr. Jean Barman and Professor Emeritus Roderick Barman are retired faculty members at UBC. Professor Emeritus Barman once taught a course “Oral History and the Archives” in what was then the School of Library Science.

While researching and writing some twenty books on British Columbia history, including The West Beyond the West, the standard work on the province, Jean Barman built an extensive collection of materials and research notes, including interviews, on the subject. The materials are,of considerable value if they are organized and catalogued.

Unfortunately, Jean Barman’s age (85) together with her physical infirmities means that, while she is very conscious of the significance of her collection, she can not undertake organizing it. At the age of 88, Professor Emeritus Barman lacks the physical stamina that the task demands. What they need is to find a someone with archival training who can – suitably paid – undertake the project.

Interested students or recent graduates are invited to send expressions of interest to Professor Victoria Lemieux (v.lemieux@ubc.ca).

This call will remain open until the position is filled.
