Summer Image Management Institute (SEI) places still open

Places are still available for the Summer Educational Institute (SEI) for Visual Resources and Image Management. To reserve your place at SEI 2015, please register by the end of April. http://seiworkshop.org/registration/

SEI 2015 will be held at the University of Illinois in Urbana-Champaign from June 9-12, 2015 and is an intensive workshop featuring a curriculum that specifically addresses the requirements of today’s information professional. Expert instructors will cover the following topics:

• Intellectual property rights
• The digital lifecycle (developing, managing, and delivering digital collections)
• Metadata and cataloging
• Digital preservation
• Digital humanities

In its twelfth year as a joint program between the Art Libraries Society of North America (ARLIS/NA) and the Visual Resources Association Foundation (VRAF), SEI is designed to serve a wide range of today’s information professionals, including those new to the field and library school students wanting to gain image management training, as well as more experienced professionals eager to respond to fast-changing technological advancements and job requirements.

Recent SEI graduates include university and public librarians, archivists, and museum staff handling image rights and reproductions. One noted: “SEI was enormously helpful, since I’ve never actually worked in visual resources . . . it showed me the range of the field, and what I might encounter in a different position.”

More information about SEI, including specific curriculum and instructors, can be found on the website. Please feel free to contact the SEI co-chairs, Meghan Musolff (musolffm@umich.edu) or Greta Bahnemann (bahne002@umn.edu) with any questions. Reduced tuition is offered to VRA and ARLIS/NA members.
