SLAIS Alumnus Brian Campell Recipient CLA Award

Brian Campbell Recipient of the 2015 Award for the Advancement of Intellectual Freedom in Canada

The Canadian Library Association is delighted to announce that Brian Campbell has been chosen as winner of the 2015 Award for the Advancement of Intellectual Freedom in Canada for his tireless championship of librarianship’s core values of intellectual freedom and information access.
Throughout his long and distinguished library career of more than 30 years in British Columbia, for many of those years Director of Systems and Special Projects for the Vancouver Public Library, Mr. Campbell treated intellectual freedom work as an integral part of his professional responsibilities as a librarian.
He has demonstrated principled leadership in promoting the links between intellectual freedom and information policy issues that arise from fast – paced technology. He has been an outstanding advocate and activist for the core values of librarianship in both the Canadian Library Association and the American Library Association, as well as provincially and locally.
This award will be recognized on February 25, 2015 at a public event in Toronto entitled Read. Write. Speak. To learn more or attend click here
