Purpose of the project:

To support the lululemon Raw Materials Global Libraries team in material processing and assist with related library collection-management tasks.

Summary of activities required to carry out the project:

Under the direction of the Raw Materials Librarian and Archivist Lead, the work experience will consist of supporting our Library Technician(s) in essential library processing and maintenance tasks, for example:

  • Physical preparation of approved fabric swatches, sample yardage and trims for raw material library collections in Vancouver, LA and Portland
  • Digital updates to library catalogue to reflect material status and location changes
  • Attending library team meetings when relevant

This is an on-site opportunity at our 1818 Cornwall Avenue Store Support Centre (SSC) in Vancouver BC, between the hours of 9-5, Monday through Friday.

The position would ideally start in May.

Expectations of the end result of the project, for both host and student:

Host:

  • Student support of Library technician(s) in ongoing daily work translates to more timely, streamlined and efficient library services for users

Student:

  • Receives hands-on experience of day-to-day workflows in a non-traditional/special corporate library in a creative, progressive setting
  • Works in collaboration with other professional librarians/archivists.

Time periods in which the project could be supervised:

  • Summer Session, Term 1 (May – June)
  • Summer Session, Term 2 (July – August)

Is there a deadline by which the project must be completed?

This project should be completed within the timeframe of the student’s work experience hours or by the end of August 2025, whichever is sooner.

Considering the project requirements, please suggest suitable coursework as pre-requisite or co-requisite:

Applicants should have completed at least one year of their MLIS program and be able to decide how the relevant foundational/required courses relate to this work experience opportunity.
