UBC iSchool alum Deb Koep (MLIS ’01) was recently named an American Library Association Library Journal magazine ‘Mover & Shaker’ for 2017. Deb was recognized for her work on internal innovation at the West Vancouver Memorial Library.
In 2016 Koep planned and executed a three-month Community Technology Consultation examining her community’s technology aspirations and priorities. The consultation included an interactive Technology Fair to allow users to make more informed decisions.
“We were trying to get people to push their thinking,” says, Koep, “and it was very important for us to be the ones listening and hearing what people had to say.” This helped the library to create a road map for future technology projects, including infrastructure.
