Join us on September 19th for a conversation with Archivist Melissa J. Nelson. She will draw on her archival work to explore the ways Black archival practice can heal, honour, and care for Black lives. Black archival practice is the specific modes of archiving that are imagined, developed, and enacted by Black archival practitioners.

Melissa J. Nelson

Melissa J. Nelson is an award-winning archivist and educator working in the field of Black archival practice. Her work centers Black being and belonging in the archives to support collective healing and liberation movements. Melissa is currently an Archivist at the Archives of Ontario, leading outreach activities with Black communities in the province. Melissa holds a Master of Information Studies from McGill University.
