About

I am a Sessional Lecturer at UBC iSchool, and Assistant Professor at the University of the Fraser Valley, Department of Information Studies. I am an enthusiastic educator with a great passion for teaching and research. I hold an MLIS and a Ph.D. in Library, Information and Communication Sciences from Claude Bernard University-Lyon 1 in France, where I examined different type of knowledge organization systems, through both theoretical and empirical study, to reveal the epistemological, cultural and linguistic factors or approaches that can play a fundamental role in the organization of knowledge.

Public libraries and the Community-Led approach currently form one of my major research focus areas. I am also interested in expanding and deepening the research scope that I’ve started recently on management and leadership in libraries from gender and race perspective!

As a woman of color, I am keen to support a positive and inclusive learning environment in the classroom and to adopt a variety of techniques and trends that motivate students and engage them in a life-long continuous learning.
