In early May of this year, a group of UBC School of Information faculty, students, and staff travelled to Nanaimo, BC to attend the annual British Columbia Library Association (BCLA) Conference.
The conference was a great opportunity for us to reconnect with industry professionals and our alumni. We also heard from people doing an array of work within the library profession, including our own students and faculty.
Here are the posters and presentations that our faculty and students participated in:
Poster Session
- Lisa Nathan: Facing the Future with Hope & Informed Imagination
- Keren Zhu (MLIS student) with Lynn Kleinveldt (University of the Fraser Valley): Enhancing student success through the integration of AI literacy and AI competency into Libguides at two universities in British Columbia
Presentations
- Cameron Pierson, Christine Middlemass, Tess Prendergast, Christopher Kevlahan (Vancouver Public Library): Holding the Line: Navigating Contemporary Questions of Intellectual Freedom in Libraries Together
- Leah Guffoy (MASLIS student), Jeff Verbeem (British Columbia Institute of Technology), Yvonne Phillips (Red Deer Polytechnic Library): Can Cardigans and Coveralls Connect?: Library Support for the Skilled Trades
