Grace Park (MASLIS) receives the 2024-25 ALA Spectrum Scholarship

Congratulations to Grace Park in the Dual MASLIS program for receiving the 2024-2025 ALA Spectrum Scholarship!

The Spectrum Scholarship Program is awarded each year to American Indian/Alaska Native, Asian, Black/African American, Hispanic/Latino, Middle Eastern and North African, and/or Native Hawaiian/Other Pacific Islander graduate students in library and information studies. The program aims to assist these graduate students to obtain their degree, and pursue leadership positions within the profession and ALA.

Grace’s research interests focus on how historical narratives are created and sustained, especially in relation to power and politics of archives and libraries. Additionally, she is interested in multilingual materials and the impact of language romanization in archives, libraries, and other information institutions. Her upcoming thesis will examine the state of Korean Canadian archives and take on a personal exploration of that identity marker. She is also a 2023-2025 Association of Research Libraries Kaleidoscope Scholar.

“I look forward to connecting with and learning from students in other library and information studies programs. I am thankful for the steadfast support from members of the UBC iSchool and UBC Asian Library where I have been encouraged to pursue my research interests.”
