The School of Information hosted a virtual graduation ceremony on Tuesday, June 1, to celebrate the more than 50 iSchool students who graduated this Spring, including 34 MLIS, 5 MAS and 16 DUAL students.
The COVID-19 situation has changed many things in our daily lives, but not our profound desire to celebrate and recognize our students and their well-deserved success. In order to follow provincial health guidelines, the ceremony was held online. Faculty and staff members, students, their families and friends were invited to join this virtual gathering to celebrate our graduates and their achievements. It was a very special ceremony for all of us at the iSchool!
The event began with a welcome message and Land Acknowledgment by Director, Erik Kwakkel, followed by our wonderful guest speakers, who shared their warm and inspiring words with us. We would like to thank Jorge Cardenas Garcia, Community Development Manager at the Burnaby Public Library, and Rebecka Sheffield, Senior Policy Advisor at Archives of Ontario, for taking the time to join us in this special event.
The ceremony concluded with a video message from faculty and staff. a celebratory toast and a very unusual, yet so special, group photo. Congratulations to all the graduates, we are all so proud of you, and we wish you the very best as you move forward on to the next stage!
