We were pleased to host our 4th Annual iSchool Awards Gala on November 1, at the Robert H. Lee Alumni Centre. It was a great evening with music, food, drinks and celebration of our student award winners.
The event began with our keynote speaker, Erik Kwakkel, Professor at UBC iSchool , who spoke on how to interact and read the information included in the material book. “A great deal of information can be gleaned from the way in which the words are placed on the page, the dimensions of that page, and even the materials it is made of. In order to understand the history of information, it is best not to read books, but to look at them ” said Kwakkel.

The iSchool gives out more than 35 awards annually, to current and graduating students. More than 30 students were on hand to receive their award certificates, with several students receiving multiple awards. The School also recognized the students that received some unique awards, as well as the recent achievements of iSchool doctoral students.
iSchool adjunct professor, Fiona Hunt, received the Mary Sue Stephenson Award for excellence in adjunct teaching. The award recognizes the impact of adjunct professors on the community, and was given to Fiona based on her glowing student evaluations this past year.
