Abstract
The goal of this workshop is to continue our engagement with UBC’s Indigenous Strategic Plan (ISP), specifically with respect to continuing to incorporate Indigenous perspectives and knowledges into our learning environment and develop more inclusive teaching practices for the benefit of all students. The recent reviews of our MAS and MLIS programs have highlighted opportunities to revise our courses to more fully represent the diversity of our students and to prepare our students to do reconciliation work.
The workshop with feature presentations from two faculty members, Drs. Tess Prendergast and Luanne Sinnamon, who will discuss their experiences of revising their courses to be more inclusive and small group discussions to share experiences, ask questions, and reflect on our own courses and teaching practices.
We will provide a light meal at the beginning of the workshop as a way to connect with each other before we dive into this important work.
