Dr. Pierson will provide preliminary findings of a current study examining how the LIS scholarly and practitioner literature conceptualise ‘safe spaces’ though discourse and documented strategies, with focus on libraries in digital transformation. It typologizes these conceptualisations and examines perceived responsibilities amongst practitioners in curating of safe spaces, the approaches practitioners utilise, and the sociotechnical factors influencing their choices. Implications for safe space cultivation in hybrid practice are discussed.
