V Rahbar awarded the 2025-2026 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship



Congratulations to UBC School of Information PhD Candidate V Rahbar, who was awarded the 2025-2026 Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship from the Beta Phi Mu Honor Society. Rahbar’s dissertation, “Understanding Neurological Difference Through Manga: A Study of Young Manga Readers” looks at the extent to which young neurodivergent manga readers relate to and want to read manga that feature neurological difference.

Past Eugene Garfield Doctoral Dissertation Fellowship recipients include alum Dr. Bonnie Tulloch in 2020, and alum and lecturer Dr. Tess Prendergast in 2015.
