Image description
Large infographic drawn with marker has core theme at the centre that is encompassed by land-based learning images (on the beach, gardening in a field, picking fruits off of trees and bushes) and arms wrapped around the concept of reciprocity. In the center of this graphic, three main aspirations are highlighted:
- Deepen learning opportunities for FNCC Students
- Prioritize ongoing relationships with Indigenous partners, communities and Indigenous-led organizations
- Across all programs at the iSchool- Expand and enhance Indigenous content and approaches
A crack in a rock was drawn above the main graphic with text that reads, “Decolonization across iSchool – we need everyone to pick up this responsibility.” The drawing serves as a reminder that there is a visible gap when only certain people take up the responsibility of decolonization.
The infographic highlights short term goals on the left. These goals include:
- An application process for the FNCC
- More courses that have a focus on Archives and Indigenous relations
- Practicums for FNCC students that have a final graduation project
- Ensuring students have opportunities to engage with Musqueam without burdening the Nation
The infographic highlights longer term goals on the right. They include:
- The circular process of connection between tending to external relationships, uplifting and understanding the connection to Indigenous solidarity and contexts while acknowledging and supporting relationships with Musqueam and work taking place on Musqueam territory
- An arrow in a circular pattern demonstrating the personal responsibility of FNCC students and the lifecycle of an FNCC student moving through the process of building their own accountability towards their class work, the communities they work with and being reciprocal with their learning and relationships after graduation.
- Spiral arrow represents an ongoing and iterative process of continued evaluation for the FNCC program
- Figure looking down over a ledge and seeing another figure below. There is a statement that acknowledges that there is a gap in the classroom when it comes to conversations and materials that address Anti-Indigenous racism. This image also acknowledges that faculty in the iSchool can pick up some of this gap.
