The Master of Arts in Children’s Literature was a fabulous program. From the time I was in High School, I was committed to working with children’s books in some aspect—in particular, I wanted to be involved with the creation of children’s books. In the MACL program I was taught by an editor in a children’s publishing house as well as introduced to the publisher that I now work with. As well, during my degree, I began work on an illustrated book which is now published, called The Melancholic Mermaid. So, without a doubt, MACL launched me into my career. Most importantly, however, I made a circle of incredibly smart and talented lifelong friends who I now work with and turn to for support in all matters of life.
