Two iSchool students and one faculty member were among the presenters at the 2015 American Educational Research Association (AERA) Annual Meeting in Chicago, IL, April 16-20.
Elise Gowen, working with Assistant Professor Eric Meyers and Associate Professor Samia Khan (Education), presented the paper “I Learned That Online”: The Internet and the Professional Development of Science Teachers. iSchool alumna Kendal Bergman also contributed to this paper.
Christian Hendriks, working with Assistant Professor Eric Meyers, presented the paper “Talking Back” to the Text: Knowledge, Belief and Justification in YouTube Comments. This paper won the Media, Culture and Learning Special Interest Group “Best Emerging Media” paper award.
Meyers also presented on the “Easy as Pi” project, a collaboration with alumna Danielle Wing and the West Vancouver Memorial Library in the panel Potential Futures for School Libraries: Researcher Perspectives. The AERA Annual Meeting is the largest gathering of scholars in the field of education research.
