Indexing Opportuntity

An opportunity for your students and faculty who are interested in learning more about indexing. The American Society for Indexing will be holding its annual conference in Seattle, Washington, starting on Wednesday, April 29, 2015, and running through Friday, May 1, 2015. Indexers from throughout the United States and from several other countries will be attending to hone their skills, network with their colleagues, and share their expertise. Further information about the events, classes, panels, and more can be found on ASI’s website, ASIndexing.org.

Of particular note is the return of our ever-popular Newbies Class. This one-day introduction to the field is a wonderful opportunity for anyone who is interested in indexing to learn more about the practice and process. Participants will gain basic knowledge of indexing principles, will be involved hands-on in creating an index, and will receive advice on how to approach indexing as a business. This year’s teacher will be Enid Zafron, an indexer who has been active in the field for over 25 years and has started a number of indexers on their way with her Indexing Boot Camp. No previous knowledge of or experience with indexing is needed – just interest! The class will take place on Wednesday, and advanced registration is required. The description of the class and the registration link can be found here: http://www.asindexing.org/conference/newbies-2015/.
