Congratulations to MAS student Emma Quan, who was awarded Archivaria’s 2026 Gordon Dodds Prize for her paper “Archiving the Infant Body: Inscription, Affect and Maternal Documentation.” The paper analyzes a baby record book from 1906 to examine how care, memory, and invisible labour are present in this example of domestic recordkeeping by a mother.
Currently completing her final year in the MAS program, Emma’s in-progress thesis looks at historical baby record books to provide insights into the relationship between mother (as recordkeeper) and child (as archival subject).
The paper will be published in Archivaria’s Spring 2027 issue.
