Danielle Alves Batista wins the Emerald Literati Outstanding Paper Award



Danielle Alves Batista, PhD Candidate and Sessional Lecturer at the UBC School of Information, has received the Emerald Publishing Literati Outstanding Paper Award for her article “Enhancing transparency and accountability in public procurement: Exploring blockchain technology to mitigate records fraud,” published in Records Management Journal.

The award recognizes outstanding scholarly contributions and highlights the research’s relevance and impact. The article was published as part of the special issue “The carrot and the stick: the impact of legislation and regulation on records management best practice, change and innovation”, which examines how regulatory frameworks influence innovation and best practices in records management.

Danielle’s research explores how blockchain technologies can strengthen the authenticity, integrity, and traceability of records in public procurement processes, thereby reducing opportunities for fraud and enhancing public accountability.

As part of the award, the article is now available in open access for a whole year, allowing members of the academic community, practitioners, and the public to read and engage with the research without subscription or payment barriers.
