GOALS: This course aims to advance students’ understanding of records metadata, their existence in digital formats, and their relationship with business process management in the context of organizational operations. It aims to develop students’ skills in creating and managing such metadata for the purpose of supporting and optimizing business process management, including business process analysis, design, and execution, as well as documenting such process for long term preservation.


Upon completion of this course students will be able to:

  • Identify metadata in relation to the “data” in metadata;
  • Conduct business process analysis for the purpose of developing a metadata schema;
  • Assess metadata utilities;
  • Optimize metadata determination based on functional assessment.
